Frequently Asked Questions

At Growing Gains Therapy, we believe in transparency and providing families with the information they need to feel confident in their child’s care. Here are some commonly asked questions about our services:

We provide therapy services for children and teenagers aged 3 to 21 years old. Our expertise spans early childhood through adolescence, addressing developmental, functional, and school-based therapy needs.

Our multidisciplinary practice offers pediatric physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language therapy. Each service is tailored to support the unique needs of each child.

If you’ve noticed delays or challenges in your child’s motor skills, speech development, or learning abilities, or if a teacher or healthcare provider has raised concerns, a professional evaluation can help determine whether therapy would be beneficial.

  • Developmental therapy addresses delays in core skills like fine motor, gross motor, and language development.
  • Functional therapy helps children meet the demands of their daily lives, such as participating in recreational activities or performing self-care tasks.
  • School-based therapy supports children in accessing and succeeding in their educational environments, such as improving skills needed for classroom tasks or physical activities.

There may be overlap between these categories. For example, developmental delays can lead to challenges in daily activities or at school.

We currently accept private pay (cash, check, credit card) and DOE-funded compensatory services or pendency services. We do not accept commercial health insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid.

No. While many of our services address school-related challenges, our therapists do not provide services within school buildings.

Each therapy session is customized to your child’s unique needs. Sessions may involve hands-on activities, play-based learning, and structured tasks to improve specific skills while keeping your child engaged. At the conclusion of each session, you may receive updated recommendations and/or home exercise programs in order to promote progress between sessions.

You can schedule an evaluation by contacting us through our website or calling 646-655-7434. We’ll guide you through the next steps to ensure your child receives the necessary care.

Yes. Our team has extensive experience working with special education attorneys and law firms in NYC, helping children receive appropriate DOE-funded compensatory or pendency services.
